CD RN TDX HSAs HTD-Is CGC
October 31, 1997 - March 29, 2009
Celt is most definitely my best buddy.
I bought him to be my ultimate herding dog, but he has turned out to be my biggest challenge.
I love him dearly though and wouldn't change a thing about him -- no matter how frustrating some things can be.
Celt does everything at one speed -- FAST -- and lots of times he doesn't THINK before he acts. We've spent all of our time together trying to become a smooth functioning team and occasionally we really do great.
Celt has tried his hand at herding, obedience, tracking and agility. I think his biggest successes have come from tracking -- he earned his TDX in 2003 after what seemed an eternity on the track with him we FINALLY found that last glove.
We earned a CD in obedience with three straight passing scores. He improved each time but we'll never make it to Open because of his "issues."
In agility we've had occasional successes. He has one NAJ leg, one NGC leg and one TN-N leg. Celt is incredibly fast but has trouble keeping bars up. Agility is also a little too exciting.
.
In herding Celt is a natural driver. In fact it took me YEARS to teach him to fetch -- he still doesn't do it very well!! He earned his HSAs and has one HIAs leg from his first time on the course. He has also earned his HTD-Is and has one HRD-Is leg. He also earned his first HSAd leg in the spring of 2005 after showing me that he could actually work ducks.
Celt is also my best puppy sitter. He loves to play with them.
Celt's parents were stock dogs imported from Ireland. They work on a sheep farm in WI and a cattle ranch in MT. Celt, however, has hip dysplasia so he was neutered at an early age.
